What others have said.

  • I have worked with many people throughout my career, and I have to say that Jim has been one of the most influential and intellectual people I have ever worked with. Jim was transformational in his leadership with a keen power to bring out the best in me. Approachable, transformative, and a man I truly respect with the ability to think in both the short and long term, Jim is a strong and impactful leader who takes his employees and organization to a level that we would not be able to go to on our own. In short, Jim is a good man whom I feel honored to have the privelage of ever having worked with.

James is capable of growing and sustaining large and start up campuses while fostering a positive culture for faculty and staff. He offers strong guidance and direction, while at the same time allowing his employees the freedom and creativity to excel. One of his greatest attributes is always delivering a motivating, positive message and feedback regardless of the situation.

Walter K. - VP Strategic Business Development

  • I have had the honor of working with Jim at two organizations over the past several years. In that time, I have found Jim to be a thoughtful, detail oriented manager who is able to analyze data, and implement effective, fact based changes to processes that improve the operations of an organization. In addition to his abilities to facilitate data driven change, Jim has the personality and skills needed to be an effective communicator and motivator of people. His analytic skills, communication abilities and overall professionalism makes him one of the the most effective manages I have had the pleasure of working with.

Dr. James Chitwood

Dr. James “J” Chitwood

Dr. James’s dissertation was the first moment he questioned the “Hero Leader” concept. The Army Infantry taught him the value of discipline, hard work, owning the outcome, and a team-first mentality. These lessons have served him well in organizational life.

The doctorate in organizational leadership built upon many of the principles learned in the Army, solidifying Dr. J’s belief that the power of the team dictates the outcome. Using these principles in over two decades of professional life showed that the performance team – the team that strives for perfection and a positive outcome – will always outperform a department of individuals striving to out-compete one another.

Dr. James’s own research, as well as multiple empirical studies, indicate the power of the team to drive performance. This truth of team-based performance was first identified in the early studies of scientific management on the production floor or a factory and again on the sales floor during Dr. James's research. He loves the saying, as clichè as it may be, “Teamwork makes the dream work!”

Dr. James has taught bachelor, master, and doctoral level courses in:

  • Strategic Change Management

  • Coaching & Supervising Employees

  • Organizational Leadership

  • Organizational Communication

  • Organizational Behavior

  • Change Management

He has over 20 years of extensive experience starting organizations and departments and completing turnaround operations. Dr. James likes to say he has the DNA of a salesperson and the mind of an operations expert. With decades of executive leadership experience, he can see the linkage between technological system efficiency and human behavioral efficacy. He believes at his core that systems and processes can be implemented to create a performance culture.
